Cardamom has been used as a food flavouring ingredient since ancient times, especially in India and is also referred to as elaichi or chhoti elaichi. Two types of cardamom are mainly used as a spice, green and black and both are like a spindle-shaped pod that contains multiple seeds. The aroma of cardamom is amazing and its flavour is bittersweet. The flavour and aroma of the pod as well as the seeds is both pleasing. To treat conditions like depression, mouth ulcers, and digestive issues this spice is also used in Ayurvedic medicines.
